About the talk:
Speaking from many years experience working with violent and delinquent individuals, Donald Campbell will explore how the consequences of an absent father contribute to a debt culture, shame, and the repetition of violence in adolescent gangs. Clips from the film Bullet Boy (2004) will be shown to illustrate a gang’s moral code of revenge, driven by unconscious guilt, which is contrasted with a community that represents the taking back of projections and support of the perpetrator. He will also consider the implications for the transference for those working with delinquent adolescents.
