About Us
The Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy (SIP) was founded in May 1985 by a group of psychoanalytic psychotherapists. Our aims are to promote and develop psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Bristol, Bath, and the surrounding areas of the South and South West.
SIP is a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), a professional association which represents the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
What we provide
- psychoanalytic psychotherapy to members of the public
- training and courses in psychoanalytic therapy and awareness

As a registered charity, we welcome support with our Fund raising.

Our central base is at 11 Orchard Street, Bristol. For directions see How to find us. This address is used for events, and you may use it for correspondence. It does not have an office open to the public.

SIP has members in Bristol, Bath, and Cheltenham, and in the counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Devon, Dorset, Cardiff, Gwent, and Swansea. Private psychotherapy is arranged with individual members. Training is based at Bristol.
