Membership
The Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy has 78 professional members, many of whom trained in SIP. We also have 11 non-practising associates, and 10 trainees training to be psychoanalytic psychotherapists.
Applications for membership
SIP welcomes applications for membership from psychotherapists who have completed a training in psychoanalytical psychotherapy equivalent to SIP's own training. The basic requirements are that:
- The applicant had psychoanalysis or psychoanalytic psychotherapy with an approved therapist at a minimum frequency of three times weekly throughout training.
- The applicant saw two patients for intensive psychotherapy at least three times weekly.
- One patient was seen for at least two years, and the other for at least eighteen months.
- Therapy with the patients was supervised by approved supervisors throughout training
