Originally recorded in 2011, Artist David Blandy met with psychoanalyst Valerie Sinason to screen his film Child of the Atom and discuss making the work, memory, and family legends in relation to historical traumas.
Connecting Conversations emerged as part of the Islington based Rowan Arts Project when Ruth Robinson, then Director of the charity and a Psychoanalyst, brought together practitioners from the world of psychoanalysis with creatives working in the Arts. The events aim to make connections between individuals, organisations, disciplines and ideas.
In 2013, under the auspices of Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy and in union with The Bridge Foundation, Lorraine Vivian met with Ruth to explore the possibility that we might host similar talks in the South West. The first Bristol based Connecting Conversation was held in May 2014.
